Biography

Merle Tottenham was a British stage and film actress. She was born on 22 January 1901 in Quetta, British India, and died on 18 July 1958 in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.

Her stage work included the original West End production of Noël Coward's Cavalcade in 1931; she reprised her role as Annie the servant in the 1933 film adaptation. She also appeared as Millie in The Invisible Man (1933), Dora in Night Must Fall (1937) and Edie in This Happy Breed (1944). Tottenham was active from the mid-1920s to around 1950 and frequently played supporting roles, often as maids or working-class characters in British productions.
