Biography
Merlin Crossingham is a British stop-motion animator and director. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, he joined Aardman Animations in 1996 after completing a degree in Film and Photography at Newport Film School. He began working on Aardman commercials before serving as key animator on the feature film Chicken Run (2000) and second unit director on Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005).
Crossingham has specialised in Wallace & Gromit projects. He directed the Creature Comforts USA series, earning a Primetime Emmy nomination, and won a BAFTA New Media award in 2011 for Wallace & Gromit’s World of Invention. In 2009 he became Creative Director for the Wallace & Gromit brand. He was animation director on Early Man (2018) and co-directed Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (2024) with Nick Park.
