Biography
Merrill De Maris (26 February 1898 – 31 December 1948) was an American writer who worked on stories and screenplays for Walt Disney animated films and on Disney comic strips for King Features Syndicate.
He received a story adaptation credit on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). De Maris joined the Disney studio in late 1932 and contributed to several animated shorts, including Three Blind Mouseketeers (1936), Don Donald (1937) and Wynken, Blynken & Nod (1938).
He is also known for scripting Mickey Mouse newspaper strips with artist Floyd Gottfredson, co-creating characters such as the Phantom Blot, Chief O'Hara and Detective Casey, and for writing comic-strip adaptations of the feature films Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio and Bambi.
