Biography
Michael Aherne is an Irish actor and civil engineer. He played Steven Clifford, the pianist, in the 1991 film The Commitments directed by Alan Parker, and performed in related music videos and the touring stage production.
Aherne returned to engineering after filming and later became head of transport development at Ireland’s National Transport Authority. He has joined former cast members in reunion events and the tribute band Stars From The Commitments.
