Biography
Michael Billington was a British film and television actor. Born in Blackburn, Lancashire, on 24 December 1941, he trained as an engineer before pursuing acting, appearing in West End musicals and stage productions including Incident at Vichy (1966).
He was best known for playing Colonel Paul Foster in the science-fiction series UFO (1970–1971) and Daniel Fogarty in the historical drama The Onedin Line (1971–1974). His film credits include Sergei Barsov in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). He screen-tested for the role of James Bond on five occasions.
Billington also appeared in The Prisoner (1967), Edward the Seventh (1975), and later guest roles in American series such as Hart to Hart and Magnum, P.I. He died in Margate, Kent, on 3 June 2005.
