Biography

Michael Burdle was a British costume designer who worked extensively for the BBC. He began his career in the corporation's costume department in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with early credits including episodes of Dad's Army and Dombey and Son.

He provided costumes for the Doctor Who serials Colony in Space (1971) and The Armageddon Factor (1979). His other BBC credits include The Borgias (1981), the BBC Television Shakespeare productions Macbeth (1983) and The Tragedy of Coriolanus (1984), Masterpiece Theatre: Bleak House (1985), and The Ginger Tree (1989). Burdle won a BAFTA Television Craft Award for Best Costume Design for Bleak House and received several nominations.

Burdle was born on 30 March 1942 in Weymouth, England, and died on 9 February 2012 in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England.
