Biography

Michael C. Butler is an American cinematographer. Born on 7 May 1945 in Los Angeles, he began his career as a camera operator on The Christian Licorice Store (1971) before serving as director of photography on Charley Varrick (1973).

He has worked on numerous feature films, including Harry and Tonto (1974), The Missouri Breaks (1976), Telefon (1977), Jaws 2 (1978), Smokey and the Bandit II (1980), The Cannonball Run (1981) and MegaForce (1982). Butler is the son of special-effects artist Lawrence W. Butler and the brother of cinematographer David L. Butler.
