Biography
Dom DeLuise was an American actor and comedian. Born Dominick DeLuise in Brooklyn, New York, on 1 August 1933, he attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City and studied biology at Tufts University. He began his career as a stand-up comedian and made his television debut on variety shows in the 1960s.
DeLuise appeared in several films by Mel Brooks, including Blazing Saddles (1974), and collaborated with Gene Wilder and Burt Reynolds. From the 1980s he voiced characters in animated films, including Jeremy in The Secret of NIMH (1982), Tiger in An American Tail (1986), Fagin in Oliver & Company (1988), and Itchy Itchiford in All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989). He died on 4 May 2009.
