Biography
Michael Goodliffe (born Lawrence Michael Andrew Goodliffe, 1 October 1914 – 20 March 1976) was an English actor. He was born in Bebington, Cheshire, the son of a vicar, and educated at St Edmund's School, Canterbury, and Keble College, Oxford. He began his career in repertory theatre in Liverpool and later worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
During the Second World War he served as a second lieutenant in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He was wounded and captured at Dunkirk, spending the rest of the war as a prisoner in Germany, where he produced and performed in plays for fellow prisoners. After the war he resumed his acting career in theatre, film and television. His film roles included Thomas Andrews in A Night to Remember (1958), appearances in Peeping Tom (1960) and Von Ryan's Express (1965), and an uncredited part in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). On television he played Jack Barraclough in the series Sam (1973–1975).
