Biography
Michael Gore (born 5 March 1951) is an American composer. A 1969 graduate of the Dwight-Englewood School, he is the younger brother of singer Lesley Gore.
Gore won two Academy Awards in 1981 for the film Fame (1980): Best Original Score and Best Original Song (shared with lyricist Dean Pitchford). He composed the score for Terms of Endearment (1983), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, and contributed music to Pretty in Pink (1986), Defending Your Life (1991) and other films. He also wrote songs for the musical Carrie with Pitchford and Lawrence D. Cohen.
