Biography
Michael Gottwald is an American film producer. A Richmond, Virginia native, he graduated from Wesleyan University in 2006. He began collaborating with director Benh Zeitlin in 2003 while at university and later joined the Court 13 filmmaking collective.
Gottwald produced Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) with Dan Janvey and Josh Penn. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. His other credits include Patti Cake$ (2017), Wendy (2020) and Janet Planet (2024). He has also worked as a producer on documentaries and series such as Philly D.A. (2021).
