Biography
Michael Hamlyn is an English film and theatre producer. Born on 23 March 1955 in Paddington, London, he established Specific Films Ltd in 1991 and has produced feature films, music videos and stage productions.
He is best known for producing the 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (with Al Clark) and its subsequent stage musical adaptation. Other film credits include U2: Rattle and Hum (1988), The Proposition (2005) as executive producer and Mystify: Michael Hutchence (2019) as co-producer. He has also produced music videos for artists including U2, The Rolling Stones, INXS and Bruce Springsteen.
Hamlyn is the son of the late Lord Paul Hamlyn and has served as a trustee of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation since the 1980s. He was formerly a governor of the Southbank Centre and is a co-owner of the Bibendum restaurant in London.
