Biography
Michael J. McEvoy (born 29 August 1961) is an American composer, orchestrator and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he worked as a session musician and songwriter in the 1980s and 1990s with artists including Ian Dury, Soul II Soul and Steve Winwood before studying composition for screen at the Royal College of Music in London.
He gained a master's degree there in 2005 and was awarded the Joseph Horovitz Prize for Screen Composition. McEvoy composed original music for Richard Linklater's Me and Orson Welles (2008), in which he also played a small acting role as Orson Welles' musical director Epstein. Other credits include the feature films Finding Your Feet (2017) and Forget Me Not (2010), as well as the documentaries The Jazz Ambassadors (2018) and Alien Deep.
He has collaborated with Paul Oakenfold on several scores, including Vexille (2007), and received Ivor Novello Award nominations and regional Emmy nominations.
