Biography
Michael Jonathan Smith is an American television writer and producer. He is a Syracuse University alumnus who began his career in scripted television after working in assistant roles and creating independent content.
Smith joined the writers’ room on Cobra Kai (2018) as a staff writer for its first season and contributed episodes including the teleplay for ‘Molting’. He advanced to supervising producer, co-executive producer and executive producer across its six seasons. He created and served as showrunner on the Peacock series Twisted Metal (2023), for which he also wrote episodes. He has an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television and received a Primetime Emmy nomination.
