Biography
Michael Klinger (1 November 1920 – 15 September 1989) was an English film producer and distributor. Born in London to Polish Jewish parents, he co-founded the Compton cinema chain and distribution company with Tony Tenser in the early 1960s.
Klinger financed Roman Polanski's Repulsion (1965) and Cul-de-sac (1966). After the partnership with Tenser ended, he produced Get Carter (1971) starring Michael Caine, Pulp (1972), Gold (1974) and Shout at the Devil (1976). He was also executive producer of the Confessions series of sex comedies (1974–1978).
His papers are held at the University of the West of England, and his career is the subject of the book and documentary The Man Who Got Carter.
