Biography

Michael Mayers is a cinematographer. He served as director of photography on 37 episodes of the television series The West Wing (1999–2006), photographing much of the show's location work in New York and Washington DC before joining the main unit in Los Angeles.

His feature credits include Spanking the Monkey (1994), Cafe Society (1995), Joe the King (1999) and Two Family House (2000). He has also worked on series including Brothers & Sisters (2006–2010) and Mixology (2014).

Mayers has taught at SUNY Purchase and spoken at USC and UCLA. He has received ASC award nominations for his work on The Pentagon Papers (2003) and The Lyon's Den (2003), and was Emmy-nominated as a producer on an episode of Great Books. Prior to his film career he was an instructor for Colorado Outward Bound.
