Biography
Michael Ross (born Isadore Rovinsky) was an American screenwriter and television producer. Born in New York City in 1919, he graduated from the City College of New York in 1939 and served as a bomber pilot in the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War.
With writing partners Don Nicholl and Bernard West, Ross contributed to All in the Family from 1971, serving as writer, story editor and producer. He won the 1973 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. The trio later created and produced the spin-off The Jeffersons and developed Three's Company (1977), for which Ross served as executive producer; they also produced its spin-offs The Ropers and Three's a Crowd.
Ross had earlier written for variety series including The Martha Raye Show in the 1950s. He died in Los Angeles in 2009.
