Biography

Michael Seymour was a British production designer. Born in Southampton in 1932, he died on 9 December 2018.

He is best known for his work on Alien (1979), for which he won a BAFTA Award for Best Production Design and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Art Direction. His other credits as production designer include Theatre of Blood (1973), Eureka (1983), The Bride (1985), Revenge (1990), Mr. Destiny (1990), Beverly Hills Cop III (1994) and Out for a Kill (2003).

Seymour began in art direction on films such as Robbery (1967), Isadora (1968) and The Bed Sitting Room (1969). He had previously collaborated with Ridley Scott on television commercials before designing the sets for Alien.
