Biography
Michael W. Horsten is a Danish screenwriter and director. He graduated from the screenwriting programme at the National Film School of Denmark in 1996.
He is best known as a main screenwriter on the crime series The Killing (Forbrydelsen, 2007–2012), contributing to all three seasons. His other credits include co-writing the features Freddy Frogface (2011) and The Shooter (2013), and screenplays for series such as Gidseltagningen (2017).
Earlier in his career he wrote and directed several short films for children, including Tilbage til byen (1999) and Lille far (2004). He collaborated with director Henrik Ruben Genz on the Oscar-nominated short Theis and Nico (Bror, min bror, 1998) and directed episodes of Hotellet and Nikolaj og Julie.
