Biography
Michael White was a British theatrical impresario and film producer. Born in Glasgow in 1936, he was educated at the University of Paris. He began his career in the 1960s as an assistant to Sir Peter Daubeny and produced his first West End play in 1961.
White produced over 100 stage productions, including Sleuth (1970), Oh! Calcutta! (1969), the original The Rocky Horror Show (1973) and its 1975 film adaptation, and A Chorus Line (1976). His film credits include Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Jabberwocky (1977) and Enigma (2001). He also produced the television series The Comic Strip Presents... from 1982. White wrote the autobiography Empty Seats (1985) and was the subject of the 2013 documentary The Last Impresario. He died in 2016.
