Biography
Michael Wilcox is a British playwright and television writer. He abandoned teaching in 1974 to write full time and served as resident playwright at the Dovecot Arts Centre in Stockton-on-Tees in 1977 and at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh in 1980.
His stage plays include Rents (1979), Accounts (1981), Lent (1983) and Massage (1986). For television he wrote the screenplay for the Inspector Morse episode 'Last Bus to Woodstock' (1988) as well as episodes of Crown Court, Cluedo and Doctor Finlay, and the films Accounts (1983) and Lent (1985). He has edited five volumes of Gay Plays for Methuen and received awards including the London Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising New Playwright in 1983.
