Biography
Michel Colombier was a French composer, arranger and conductor. Born in Lyon in 1939, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire and began his career in the early 1960s as a musical director and arranger in France before moving into film scoring.
He composed scores for over one hundred motion pictures and television productions. His film credits include Purple Rain (1984), The Money Pit (1986), Ruthless People (1986), The Golden Child (1986), New Jack City (1991), Major League II (1994), Barb Wire (1996) and Swept Away (2002). He also wrote chamber music and ballets, and collaborated with Pierre Henry on the 1967 ballet score Messe pour le temps présent.
Colombier died in Santa Monica, California, in 2004.
