Biography
Mila Parély (born Olga Colette Peszynski) was a French actress of Polish ancestry. She appeared as Geneviève de Marras in Jean Renoir's The Rules of the Game (1939). She is also known for her role as Félicie in Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast (1946), as Madame Raphaële in Max Ophüls's Le Plaisir (1952) and as Madeleine in Robert Bresson's Angels of Sin (1943).
Parély began her career in the early 1930s, appearing in films by Fritz Lang and G.W. Pabst among others. She worked with Sacha Guitry and continued in cinema into the 1950s. In 1947 she married racing driver Thomas Alastair Sutherland Ogilvie Mathieson; following his serious accident she reduced her acting commitments to care for him. She returned briefly to the screen in the late 1980s.
Parély was born on 7 October 1917 in Paris and died on 14 January 2012 in Vichy, France.
