Biography
Milcho Manchevski is a Macedonian film director, screenwriter, photographer and artist. Born in 1959 in Skopje, he graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in film and photography and has lived in New York since 1985.
He wrote and directed the feature Before the Rain (1994), which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. His other feature films include Dust (2001), Shadows (2007) and Mothers (2010). He has directed numerous short films and music videos, and helmed one episode of the HBO series The Wire (2002).
