Biography
Milton Delugg was an American composer, arranger, musician and bandleader. Born in Los Angeles on 2 December 1918, he died in the same city on 6 April 2015. He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, and with Tibor Serly.
Delugg composed the score for the film Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964), including its theme song "Hooray for Santa Claus". He worked extensively in radio and television, serving as musical director on Broadway Open House and leading the band on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1965–66. He was musical director of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for three decades until 2013, and collaborated with producer Chuck Barris on The Gong Show and other programmes. Among his song credits are "Orange Colored Sky", a hit for Nat King Cole, and "Hoop Dee Doo" for Perry Como.
