Biography
Miranda de Pencier is a Canadian film and television producer and director. Born in Toronto in 1968, she began her career as an actress, appearing as Josie Pye in the miniseries Anne of Green Gables (1985) and its sequels, as well as in stage productions including the Canadian premieres of Les Misérables and Aspects of Love. She later worked as Director of Development at Robert Redford's Wildwood Enterprises before founding her own company, Northwood Entertainment (also referred to as Northwood Productions).
As a producer, de Pencier's credits include Cake (2005), Pu-239 (2006), Adam (2009), Beginners (2011) and Thanks for Sharing (2013). She served as executive producer on the series Anne with an E (2017–2019). Her directorial debut was the short film Throat Song (2011), which she also wrote and produced; it won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Live Action Short Drama. Her feature directorial debut, The Grizzlies (2018), for which she was also a producer, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and earned her the Directors Guild of Canada Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film.
