Biography
Mirela Neag is a Romanian investigative journalist. She began her career writing sports reports for the daily Meridian in 1992 and joined the newly founded ProSport in 1997. She later specialised in investigations, collaborating with Cătălin Tolontan on stories including the Piatra Arsă case, the Ridzi youth day affair and the Gala Bute scandal.
Her reporting on corruption in Romania’s public health system following the 2015 Colectiv nightclub fire featured prominently in the 2019 observational documentary Collective (original title Colectiv), directed by Alexander Nanau. The film received two Academy Award nominations.
