Biography
Mirjana Joković is a Serbian film and stage actress. She was born on 24 November 1967 in Užice, then part of Yugoslavia. She trained at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and began her career in Yugoslav theatre, film and television in the late 1970s.
She is best known for her leading role as Natalija Zovkov in Emir Kusturica's Underground (1995). Other screen credits include Maid in Manhattan (2002) and At Middleton (2013). She has received several acting awards, including Best Actress at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 1989 for Eversmile, New Jersey.
Joković moved to the United States in the early 1990s. Since 2005 she has taught at the California Institute of the Arts, where she is Director of Performance and Head of the MFA Acting program in the School of Theater.
