Biography
Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky was a Russian composer. He was born on 21 March 1839 in Karevo, Pskov Governorate, Russian Empire, and died on 28 March 1881 in Saint Petersburg.
After initial military training, he studied music and became associated with the group of composers known as The Five. His notable works include the opera Boris Godunov (final version first performed 1874), the piano suite Pictures at an Exhibition (1874) and the tone poem Night on Bald Mountain.
His music featured in the film Fantasia (1940) and Jabberwocky (1977).
