Biography
Mohammad Bakri (also credited as Mohammed Bakri) was a Palestinian actor and director with Israeli citizenship. Born in Bi'ina in the Galilee region of Israel, he studied acting and Arabic literature at Tel Aviv University before beginning his professional career in theatre with companies including Habima Theatre in Tel Aviv and al-Kasaba Theatre in Ramallah.
Bakri appeared in films and television series including Hanna K. (1983), Beyond the Walls (1984), The Body (2001), Tyrant (2014), The Bureau (2015), The Night Of (2016) as Tariq, American Assassin (2017), Homeland (2020) as Abdul Qadir G'ulom, Cairo Conspiracy (2022) as General Al Sakran, and House of David (2025) as Dayan. He also directed documentaries such as Jenin, Jenin (2002). Three of his sons, Saleh, Ziad and Adam Bakri, are actors. He died in Nahariya, Israel, in December 2025.
