Biography

Mohammed Afifi, also credited as Mohammed Said Afifi or Mohamed Saïd Afifi, was a Moroccan actor. He appeared in international films including as the Hangman in The Mummy (1999) and as Mohammed in The Sheltering Sky (1990).

Afifi had a substantial career in Moroccan theatre. He co-founded the National Youth Troupe (later known as Al Mamoura) in the 1960s, directed and performed in plays including Hamlet and Othello, and held teaching and directing positions at theatre institutions in Casablanca and El-Jadida. He died in Rabat in 2009.
