Biography
Molly Newman is an American television writer and producer. She is from Evansville, Indiana, and began her career as a playwright, co-authoring the musical Quilters with Barbara Damashek; it premiered on Broadway in 1984 and earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical in 1985.
Newman moved into television in the early 1990s as a story editor and writer on The Larry Sanders Show. She wrote episodes of Frasier (1994), Murphy Brown (1994), Sisters and 7th Heaven, and served as supervising producer and writer on Tracey Takes On... (1996–1998), winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series in 1998. Later credits include writing and producing on Brothers & Sisters (2006–2011), Political Animals (2012) and Code Black (2015–2016).
