Biography
Mort Nathan is an American television writer, producer and film director. He was born on 11 May 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Science in television production from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Fine Arts from New York University’s Graduate Film School.
Nathan began his career writing for the sitcom Benson (1979). With writing partner Barry Fanaro he joined the staff of The Golden Girls (1985) as a writer and rose to co-executive producer and head writer for its first four seasons. The pair later created series including The Fanelli Boys (1990) and Pacific Station (1991). Nathan wrote the screenplay for Kingpin (1996) and directed the films Boat Trip (2002) and Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj (2006). He has taught as an associate professor at Chapman University.
