Biography

Muriel King (1900–1977) was an American costume designer and fashion designer. She worked on eight major films between 1935 and 1944, including Sylvia Scarlett (1935), Stage Door (1937, gowns), The Woman in the Window (1944) and Cover Girl (1944).

King studied art at the University of Washington and began her career as a fashion illustrator for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. She later opened a salon in New York and designed personal wardrobes for actresses including Katharine Hepburn. She retired from fashion design in 1957 to focus on painting.
