Biography
Mýa, born Mya Marie Harrison, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer and actress. Raised in Washington, D.C., she studied ballet, jazz and tap dance from an early age and began focusing on music as a teenager, releasing her debut album in 1998.
She made her feature-film debut in In Too Deep (1999) and appeared as Mona in the 2002 musical Chicago, for which she shared a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Her other screen credits include Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004), Shall We Dance? (2004) and Cursed (2005). She later performed on stage as Velma Kelly in the Broadway production of Chicago.
