Biography
Nancy Savoca is an American film and television director, writer and producer. Born in the Bronx, New York, she graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1982, where she received the Haig P. Manoogian Award for her short films. She began her career working on productions for John Sayles and Jonathan Demme before making her feature debut with True Love (1989).
Savoca is known for directing Dogfight (1991), Household Saints (1993), segments of If These Walls Could Talk (1996) and The 24 Hour Woman (1999). Her television credits include episodes of Murder One (1995), Third Watch (2000) and Dirt (2003). She has received awards including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for True Love and Independent Spirit Award nominations. Savoca is married to writer and producer Richard Guay.
