Biography

Nancy Steen is an American television writer and producer. Born on 31 January 1950 in Shoreview, Minnesota, she graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1972 with a degree in theatre and later studied with Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She began her career as an actress with Dudley Riggs' Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis before appearing in series including Charlie's Angels, Taxi, Mork & Mindy and MASH*.

Steen moved into writing in the early 1980s, contributing to Police Squad! and Happy Days. Her subsequent credits as writer and producer include Night Court, Webster, The Love Boat, Married... with Children, Roseanne (where she served as co-executive producer in 1996–1997), Caroline in the City, Jesse, Titus, I'm with Her and What I Like About You. She co-created the short-lived series Stand by Your Man in 1992.
