Biography
Naoki Kaneko (金子尚樹) was a Japanese film editor. He founded the post-production company Film Craft (フィルム・クラフ) in 1990 and had previously operated as Kaneko Editorial Office (金子編集室).
Kaneko edited Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) and Only Yesterday (1991). He worked on numerous independent and mainstream Japanese films, including Bashing (2005) and Haru to no Tabi (2010). He received the Japan Film Critics Award editing prize (浦岡敬一賞) for the latter and an earlier technical award for Bashing.
Born in Tokyo in 1958, he died in 2021. He was a member of the Japan Film and Television Editors Association and helped establish the Editors Noah collective.
