Biography
Nascuy Linares is a Venezuelan composer, arranger, musician, editor and filmmaker. Born in 1972 in Mérida, he trained with musicians in the El Sistema network of orchestras and holds a degree in Audiovisual Media from the Universidad de Los Andes in Venezuela together with a master’s degree in Post-Production from Bournemouth University in England.
He has composed original music for more than forty feature films and television projects. His credits include Embrace of the Serpent (2015), Rotting in the Sun (2023) and The Whistler: Origins (2018). He won the Platino Award for best original music for Embrace of the Serpent and received an artistic residency for young Latin American composers at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, awarded by the UNESCO-Aschberg programme. Linares has also collaborated with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic as a video editor and stage manager.
