Biography
Neil McKay is a British television and film writer. He began his career writing episodes for series including The Bill, Peak Practice, Casualty, Medics, London’s Burning, Heartbeat and Holby City. His first one-off drama was an adaptation of Wuthering Heights (1998).
McKay’s breakthrough came with the 2000 drama This is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper, which won a Broadcast Award. He later wrote See No Evil: The Moors Murders (2006), for which he received a BAFTA for Best Drama Serial, Mo (2010), Appropriate Adult (2011), The Moorside (2017), the feature Dream Horse (2020), Four Lives (2022) and The Reckoning (2023). He has received further BAFTA nominations and other awards for his factual dramas.
