Biography
Nell Scovell, also credited as Helen Vivian Scovell, is an American television and magazine writer and producer. Born on 8 November 1960 in Newton, Massachusetts, she graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1982. She began her career as the first staff writer at Spy magazine before moving into television.
Scovell wrote for series including The Simpsons, for which she contributed the season two episode 'One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish' in 1991. She created Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which ran from 1996 to 2003, and has written episodes of Coach, Murphy Brown, Monk, Charmed and NCIS. She has also produced on several of these shows.
Scovell co-authored the book Lean In with Sheryl Sandberg. She has directed made-for-television films and contributed to magazines such as Vanity Fair and The New York Times Magazine.
