Biography
Nelofer Pazira is an Afghan-Canadian actress, filmmaker, journalist and author. She was born in 1973 in Hyderabad, India, and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan. She fled with her family to Pakistan in 1989 and immigrated to Canada in 1990.
In 2001 she starred as Nafas in the film Kandahar, directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf and loosely based on her own attempt to return to Afghanistan during Taliban rule. She later co-directed and produced the documentary Return to Kandahar (2003). Pazira has also appeared in other films including Act of Dishonour (2010) and has written the memoir A Bed of Red Flowers.
