Biography

Nia DaCosta is an American filmmaker. She was born on 8 November 1989 in Brooklyn, New York City, and studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.

Her feature debut Little Woods (2018) won the Nora Ephron Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival. She directed episodes of the series Top Boy (2019) and the film Candyman (2021). DaCosta wrote and directed The Marvels (2023) and directed Hedda (2025) and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026).
