Biography
Nick Laird-Clowes is an English musician and composer. Born on 5 February 1957 in London, he is best known as the lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter of the band The Dream Academy, whose 1985 single "Life in a Northern Town" reached the top ten in several countries.
He has composed original scores for films including The Invisible Circus (2001), Fierce People (2006), Battle for Haditha (2007) and About Time (2013). Laird-Clowes has also contributed lyrics to Pink Floyd's 1994 album The Division Bell and released solo work under the name Trashmonk.
