Biography
Nico Leunen is a Belgian film editor. He graduated in 1998 with a master's degree in experimental film from the Sint Lukas school in Brussels and began editing feature films and documentaries shortly afterwards.
He has edited more than sixty feature films and documentaries. His credits include The Misfortunates (2009), The Broken Circle Breakdown (2012), Lost River (2015), Beautiful Boy (2018), I Know This Much Is True (2020), The Eight Mountains (2022) and H Is for Hawk (2025). Leunen has collaborated repeatedly with director Felix van Groeningen and is married to director Fien Troch, with whom he has worked on several films.
In 2013 he received the Flemish Culture Award for Film. He became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2015 and joined the American Cinema Editors as its first Belgian member in 2021.
