Biography

Nicola Daley is a cinematographer working in high-end television drama and feature films. Originally from Derbyshire, England, she had a nomadic childhood living on four continents by the age of eight before settling in Sydney. In 2003 she completed an MA in Cinematography at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, training under Andrew Lesnie and Peter James.

She spent a decade shooting observational documentaries in locations including North Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2014 she became the eighth woman accredited by the Australian Society of Cinematographers. Daley is also a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.

Her feature credits include Pin Cushion (2018) and Benediction (2021), the latter directed by Terence Davies and premiered at TIFF. On television she has worked on series including Harlots, Gentleman Jack, Domina and The Handmaid's Tale, serving as lead director of photography on seasons five and six of the latter, collaborating closely with director Elisabeth Moss.
