Biography
Nigel Walters (1941–2025) was a British cinematographer. He began his career at BBC Wales in 1963 and worked as a BBC film cameraman for nearly 30 years, filming over 100 programmes including episodes of Panorama, Horizon, Arena and 40 Minutes, as well as documentaries and dramas around the world.
After going freelance in 1992 he shot the first 15 episodes of Kavanagh QC (1995), the television film Streetlife (1995) and the Channel 4 series Queer as Folk (1999), for which he was director of photography on all eight episodes. His other credits include Midsomer Murders, William and Mary and the feature One of the Hollywood Ten (2000). He was nominated for a BAFTA TV Craft Award for Around the World in 80 Days (1989).
Walters joined the British Society of Cinematographers in 1998 and served on its board of governors from 2005 to 2020, receiving the BSC John Alcott Award in 2016.
