Biography
Nina Agadzhanova (also credited as Nina Agadzhanova-Shutko or N. F. Agadzhanovoy-Shutko) was a Soviet screenwriter and film director. She wrote the original screenplay The Year 1905, commissioned in 1925 to mark the twentieth anniversary of the 1905 Revolution, from which Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin (1925) was developed.
Agadzhanova began working as a screenwriter in 1924. Her other credits include the screenplay for Deserter (1933) and co-direction of Two-Buldi-Two (1930). Before entering film she had been active as a Bolshevik revolutionary from 1907, participating in the 1917 revolutions and undertaking underground work.
