Biography

Nina Petri is a German actress. Born in Hamburg on 16 July 1963, she trained at the Westfälische Schauspielschule in Bochum from 1983 to 1987.

She first came to prominence with the title role in Tom Tykwer’s Die tödliche Maria (1993), for which she received a Bavarian Film Award. Petri played Mrs Hansen in Run Lola Run (1998) and appeared in Doris Dörrie’s Am I Beautiful? (1998); her performances in the latter two films earned her the German Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has worked extensively in television, including long-running appearances in series such as Zwei Brüder (1994–2001) and episodes of Tatort.

Since 2006 she has run her own theatre, Die Theaterfabrik, in Hamburg.
