Biography
Nina Simone, born Eunice Kathleen Waymon, was an American singer, pianist and civil rights activist who appeared in several documentaries through archive footage of her performances.
She is credited as Self (archive footage) in Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) (2021), Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat (2024) and It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley (2025). A biographical documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone? (2015), also features her extensively.
Born on 21 February 1933 in Tryon, North Carolina, she died on 21 April 2003.
